Brick of Fresh Luch SHD 100 Film

Lucky Film is back!?

Whoa! After some of what I heard and saw I thought it was the end for Chinese photographic films. Then one day I was looking around on eBay and I found 10 rolls of 36exp 35mm Luck Film for $45 with shipping. I grabbed a package quick and just recieved it. It’s dated 2018-07! Fresh stuff!

Alas there seems to be no more of it cheap. A precursor for more to come or some sputtering from a dying emulsion? It’s difficult to know. Shanghai seems to be putting out some decently priced 4×5

Las Vegas on Velvia Part 2 – Red Rock Canyon

Like I said in Part 1 – Lights!, this was shot on Velvia 100 of unknown age. Stored in a garage fridge that freezes in the winter, it aged somewhere between 5 and 15 years.

Living in Michigan is a very flat earth experience. No in the “whole earth is flat” way, but the landscape here is rather featureless compared Pennsylvania or upstate New York. There are some hills and sand dunes and stuff in places, just not where I’m at. I was super excited then to go out and see some

Las Vegas on Velvia Part 1 – Lights!

Last year I had the opportunity to spend a couple days in Las Vegas. I’m not the gambling type, but I took the opportunity to shoot several rolls of film. With all the color and vibrance my first thoughts went straight to a roll of Velvia 100 I’d had in my fridge for years. I couldn’t tell you how old it was but I’m thinking at least 5 years old though possibly up to 14. I know I bought it fresh, just really no idea when. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Still it was my first pick. I wanted

Tools of the darkroom trade

Just a couple ‘Tools of the Trade’

I was in my darkroom a bit today. I developed 4 rolls of film, Stand in R09 1:100 with gentle inversions at 20min and 40min. While I was waiting for the wash I thought I’d snap a quick pick of a small ensemble of some of my darkroom tools:

For starters the Cen-tech (harbor freight) infrared thermometer is one of the awesomest tools I’ve gotten recently for the

Nikon Fa, Hasselblad 500/CM, Minolta Himatic

New additions to the herd!

What do all these cameras have in common? I own all three but haven’t shot a single frame in any of them!

First up is the Nikon FA. I’m a Canon guy so what am I doing with a Nikon. Well for starters I got my first Canon, an AE-1 from my Dad in high school. When digital started getting big I inherited his EOS 650. I like Canons and I get them. I’ve been handling them for a long time.

I had actually sworn off Nikons not for any philosophical reasons or brand loyalty, I just didn’t

Japanese Tea Garden shot with Kodak Aerochrome

Just got my first roll of Kodak Aerochrome Back!

Ok, for starters, this isn’t my first go around with infrared film. I’ve had fairly disastrous results with black and white infrared before with few frames being usable. Well I saw the FPP had hand spooled cartridges of 35mm loaded up. It’s expensive but I bought a roll! I just had shoot a

365 Update and A Color 220 film was chosen!

Ok, so the Photo-a-day 365 project has gotten a little derailed. I made it a full month before my life finally caught up with me. I still sputtered a long and I’m still averaging more film photos taken than ever! Eager to make this work and keep it going I’m switching to A-rol-per-month which I’m already ahead of.

Obviously this wouldn’t be a shot per day for say 6×9 120 (8 shots) but it could be more that a shot a day with a 36exp roll of 35mm film. For the purposes
