Lushes LaMoan (pics in the article may be NSFW)

Lushes LaMoan is a burlesque dancer and founder of a Detroit burlesque troop. I saw her preform recently at a farewell party for some good friends. For me this was the first time I’ve ever seen burlesque done to a live jazz band! Really cool time.

Saginaw Art Museum Gardens 2016

Saginaw Art Museum Gardens

The Saginaw Art Museum is a really unique place in Saginaw, Michigan. It’s run by a handful of dedicated individuals who truly believing in bring art to the public and preserving it for future generations. I used to work part time here and still help out with exhibit prep as needed. The gardens are maintained by a team of volunteers and maintain the Italianate tradition as close as possible to the original garden from the early 1900s.

Dan and Silke

The Farewell Party!

There’s a couple that’s been going to Photostock since about 2009 that I befriended over the years. I didn’t see them often, but we followed each other on Facebook and other sites. We met up occasionally outside of Photostock to do some urban exploration in Detroit. They were friends I saw a few times a year. They are film Photographers that usually read more

Dewey Beach

Big “Oops!” with Svema MZ-3

When you’re shooting oddball films it’s always good to test before you go out and try to execute a plan. Well I didn’t and it bit me in the butt a bit. I had this plan to take some FFP Store Svema MZ-3 low iso film out to the beach, slap some filters on it and take some longer exposure images where people that are moving turn into smears or ghosts. Stuff that stays still looks fine. read more

Jeff Blandford

Jeff Blandford’s Exhibit at the Saginaw Art Museum

Jeff Blandford is a ceramicist with an eye for the unusual. While he’s certainly know for throwing some very large works, I was intrigued by th differentness of his work and the creative way it was displayed. I took my grandfather’s Rollei T3 (F3.5) and a tripod to The Saginaw Art Museum and shot a roll of Tri-X 400 film. It’s not often something this enigmatic comes to town and I’m really glad I was able to catch it!

Images in article may not be suitable for some work environments!

A while back I posted some videos of Holly Hock and Leena Allure’s burlesque performances from the Rumbleville grand opening celebration.

Well at the same time I was filming the videos I was also shooting some Kodak Tri-X 400 in a Konica BigMini Zoom camera! I recently developed the film using Ilford DD-X. Previously I’ve had thin negatives when using read more

Camp Pellston bunk room

Urbex: Camp Pellston in Northern Michigan

Back in 2008 we were vacationing “Up North” which here in Michigan pretty much means north of the Zilwalkee bridge. In this case it was way north up in Cross Village, Michigan. My wife went for a drive to get some things at the store and drove past an abandoned building on the way back. It was on the corner of Camp rd and Pleasant View Rd.

I had just started getting into urbex photography and was super interested. She told me it looked like a compound of some sort with fences and barbed read more
